Dry Creek Rancheria and Caesars Begin Construction on Caesars Republic Sonoma County
The Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians and Caesars Entertainment have officially commenced construction on the Caesars Republic Sonoma County resort. This two-year project aims to elevate River Rock Casino from its local roots to a high-profile destination.
On August 2, the partnership marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony, as detailed in a joint press release. The new resort is expected to be completed by the summer of 2027.
Caesars Entertainment was selected in July 2024 to be the development and management partner for this venture, according to a company spokesperson. River Rock Casino has been a notable establishment since its inception in 2002.
Caesars Republic Sonoma County will feature a hotel with 100 rooms, a luxurious spa, a pool, and a fitness center. Dining options will include a steakhouse, an upscale café, a fireside bar, a sports bar, and a wine bar with an outdoor deck offering stunning valley views.
Chris Wright, chairman of the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “Breaking ground on Caesars Republic Sonoma County marks a monumental moment for Dry Creek Rancheria. This collaboration signifies a bold leap into the future for our tribe and community.”
Located on the tribe’s 75-acre reservation near River Rock Casino along Highway 128 in Geyserville, the new resort will occupy the valet parking lot adjacent to the existing casino, which will remain operational during construction. The Caesars spokesperson also noted that the new facility will host over 1,000 slot machines and 28 table games, compared to the current 900 slots and 11 table games at River Rock.
This development is anticipated to boost tourism and revenue for Sonoma County, as Claudia Vecchio, president and CEO of Sonoma County Tourism, highlighted the importance of attracting overnight visitors who contribute more economically to the region. The project financing is led by Citizens and includes Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. (GLPI) as the main real estate financing partner.
