The long-awaited identity of the mysterious Dragon Ball project known as “Age 1000” has been unveiled, confirming that it is, in fact, the eagerly anticipated Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 3.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Official Announcement
During a panel at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour, the project Age 1000 was officially introduced as Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 3, along with thrilling new details revealed in an exciting trailer. Developed by Bandai Namco, fans were treated to some surprising features of the game.
This installment of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 aims to create an entirely new world inspired by the vision of the late Akira Toriyama.
New Anime Trailer and Release Window
On April 19, at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour, Bandai Namco released a fresh anime-style trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, alongside an announcement for a 2027 release on PS5, Xbox, and Steam.
Prior to this reveal, a teaser trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s final DLC was shared, wrapping up the Future Saga and transitioning towards the next chapter in the Xenoverse series.
New Characters and Time Setting
During the panel, series producer Akio Iyoku confirmed that Akira Toriyama played a significant role in shaping this new game, envisioning the future of the Dragon Ball universe. Interestingly, Bulma appears to have survived into this far-off future, and a character resembling Piccolo was also glimpsed in the trailer.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was initially mentioned as Project Age 1000 at the Genkidamatsuri event earlier this year. Very little information was available then, other than insight into its setting and a new character tailored by Toriyama himself. This character is confirmed to be the player avatar, who will also feature a female counterpart.
Exploring the Future Timeline
Additionally, another new character designed by Toriyama, named “Brett,” appears to be a direct descendant of Goku. As the title Project Age 1000 suggests, the narrative is set in a time significantly more advanced than the original Dragon Ball storyline, placing it at least 200 years beyond the events of Dragon Ball Z.
The Xenoverse series, known for its time-traveling elements, promises to expand on the storytelling possibilities of a future setting. Previously, only a handful of Dragon Ball tales have ventured so far into the timeline, such as Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Online, the latter also set in Age 1000.
