SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Victor Wembanyama delivered a standout performance with 38 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 121-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons, successfully completing a sweep of the series.
De’Aaron Fox contributed significantly with 29 points, while Stephon Castle added 11 points and 12 assists in this match, marking San Antonio’s return to home play after nearly a month on the road.
For Detroit, Cade Cunningham recorded 26 points, and Isaiah Stewart added 18 points as the Pistons faced their second consecutive defeat. Despite closing their trip with a 1-2 record, they remain at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 45-16 record.
This game hinted at a potential NBA Finals matchup, with the Spurs achieving another comfortable double-digit win. San Antonio has been on a roll, winning 13 of their last 14 games, including a previous 114-103 win against Detroit on February 23 in the Motor City.
The Spurs took an early lead, jumping to a 10-2 start and extending it to 17 points in the first quarter, shooting 54% from beyond the arc. Unfortunately for Detroit, Ausur Thompson sprained his right ankle just two minutes into the game.
San Antonio finished the night shooting 35% from three-point range, making 13 of 37 attempts, while the Pistons struggled to bounce back as their performance waned throughout the game.
