A Wimbledon champion has been added to the list of players withdrawing from the 2026 Indian Wells Open, while there is still uncertainty regarding the participation of three players who were stranded in Dubai.
As of Monday, 15 athletes had withdrawn from both the women’s and men’s singles events, and this number has now risen to 17.
The Indian Wells tournament, a combined ATP/WTA 1000 event, is regarded as one of the most prestigious tournaments on the tennis calendar and is frequently referred to as the fifth Grand Slam. It will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, Fubo in the US, and Fancode in India.
Indian Wells serves as the first Masters 1000 event on the ATP Tour and marks the third such event in the WTA Tour season following the Doha and Dubai tournaments in February.
Established in 1974 and sponsored by BNP Paribas, the upcoming 2026 edition will mark the 52nd men’s tournament and the 37th women’s tournament. Main draw matches will occur from March 4 to 15 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, renowned as Tennis Paradise, located near Palm Springs, California.
The defending champions are Jack Draper and Mirra Andreeva, who both claimed their first Indian Wells titles in 2025. The men’s and women’s singles draws will each feature 96 players, including 32 seeds who receive a bye in the first round.

Uncertainty Over Dubai Trio
Daniil Medvedev, Karen Khachanov, and Andrey Rublev are currently in the Indian Wells men’s draw, seeded 11th, 16th, and 17th, respectively. However, their participation is in question as they remain stranded in Dubai due to conflict in the Middle East. Flights from Dubai have been canceled, and reports indicate that Medvedev and Rublev are considering traveling to Oman by car to take a private jet back.
It is unclear if Khachanov is pursuing a similar plan to leave Dubai.
