Reunion at Mizzou Arena
Following the 2025 Bowers & Carroll Alumni Game at Mizzou Arena, Tim Fuller spotted Mike Alden and his wife amidst the crowd of fans and players on Norm Stewart Court, greeting them warmly.
Shared History
Fuller, a former assistant coach for the Tigers, and Alden, the university’s previous athletic director, both left their positions at Missouri in 2015. A decade later, their reunion reignited Fuller’s affection for the “Show-Me” State, emphasizing the community’s warmth and support.
The Importance of People
“It’s the people,” Fuller reflected. “I always tell recruits that decisions shouldn’t be made solely on the names on buildings but on the heartbeats within them. The Missouri community has embraced my family and the program, making me feel special about my experiences here.”
New Role as General Manager
Officially appointed as MU’s first men’s basketball general manager on June 2, Fuller feels he’s evolved over the past ten years. He shifted his focus from aspiring to be a head coach to aspiring to help others reach their potential, a sentiment he’s eager to fulfill in his new role.
Building Connections
Fuller and Dennis Gates have known each other since Gates was with Florida State. Upon Gates becoming Mizzou’s head coach in 2023, Fuller expressed his availability for transition support, having done the same for previous hires. Their discussions often revolved around potential recruits from the Overtime Elite league.
Strategic Planning
During their conversations, Gates proposed the idea of having a GM. After understanding Gates’ vision for the role, Fuller felt confident about his fit and looked forward to returning to Missouri. He has since outlined a 100-day plan, focusing on relationship-building and expanding connections with agents and elite players.
Long-Term Goals
Ultimately, Fuller’s aim is to support Gates in roster construction, utilizing both the transfer portal and high school recruiting avenues. As he steps into his new role, he’s enthusiastic about the work ahead and the opportunities it presents.
