Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have added a thrilling new chapter to their rivalry at the French Open this month.
Although they have faced each other 11 times on the ATP Tour, the world’s top two players had never before met in a Grand Slam final before this year’s French Open.
This changed when both athletes reached the final, competing on Court Philippe Chatrier for the prestigious title of Roland Garros.
In an epic showdown lasting five hours and twenty-nine minutes, Alcaraz emerged victorious against Sinner with a nail-biting score of 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6, thereby defending his French Open title.
As fans anticipate a possible rematch at Wimbledon next month, ATP player Alexander Bublik expressed his hope for Sinner and Alcaraz to meet in every Grand Slam final moving forward.
Alexander Bublik’s Wish for Alcaraz and Sinner
In a recent interview with Tennis TV, world number 45, Alexander Bublik, shared his thoughts on the rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz.
“They are going to keep doing this. They exist in another realm,” he stated. “Watching them compete is incredible, and it’s a privilege to witness so many of their matches.”
Bublik has faced Jannik Sinner six times, while he has yet to play against Carlos Alcaraz. He expressed confidence that they would eventually meet.
Match | Winner | Loser | Score |
2025 French Open – QF | Jannik Sinner | Alexander Bublik | 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 |
2023 Halle – QF | Alexander Bublik | Jannik Sinner | 7-5, 2-0 (RET) |
2023 Libema Open – 2R | Jannik Sinner | Alexander Bublik | 6-4, 6-2 |
2021 Miami Open – QF | Jannik Sinner | Alexander Bublik | 7-6, 6-4 |
2021 Dubai – 2R | Jannik Sinner | Alexander Bublik | 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 |
Bublik reflected on his career, mentioning his disappointment at not facing legends like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. However, he remains optimistic about making memories against potential new legends along the way.
“I truly wish them great success, and every Grand Slam I watch, I’m rooting for them to secure a victory and face off in the finals,” Bublik remarked. “I hope their race for Grand Slams continues and challenges the records set by the current greats.”
Currently, Sinner and Alcaraz trail behind legends like Nadal and Federer, but many believe they are on track to shorten that gap in the near future.
The Rising Grand Slam Contenders
There are growing expectations that Alcaraz and Sinner will soon be prominent figures in the Grand Slam scene due to their impressive performances over the past 18 months.

Since Novak Djokovic won the US Open in 2023, Sinner and Alcaraz have each claimed the last six Grand Slam titles.
- 2024 Australian Open – Jannik Sinner
- 2024 French Open – Carlos Alcaraz
- 2024 Wimbledon – Carlos Alcaraz
- 2024 US Open – Jannik Sinner
- 2025 Australian Open – Jannik Sinner
- 2025 French Open – Carlos Alcaraz
If this trend continues, it won’t be long before both players reach 20 Grand Slam titles, entering the G.O.A.T. conversation long dominated by Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic.
Only time will tell if either Sinner or Alcaraz can achieve such greatness, but they will have the opportunity to add to their titles starting at Wimbledon, which begins on Monday, June 30.
Bublik Prepares for a Challenging Match Against Sinner
Bublik is acutely aware of Sinner’s talent, having played against him five times on the ATP Tour, with a record of 1-4 against him.
They recently faced off during the French Open, where Sinner triumphed in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, 6-0, advancing to the semi-finals.

Bublik will get another chance to face the world number one this week at the Halle Open, where they are set to meet in the second round.
Bublik previously won their only meeting in Germany two years ago, where he claimed the biggest title of his career.
They will compete for a spot in the Halle quarterfinals on Thursday, June 19.
