6. Fireballs GC
Fireballs GC currently holds the third position in the LIV Golf team rankings, but after a strong start to the season, their performance has dwindled in recent tournaments. The team’s recent challenges reflect the struggles of their captain, Sergio Garcia, throughout 2025. Despite an impressive beginning to the year, highlighted by a victory in Hong Kong, Garcia has encountered difficulties lately, with his highest finish in the last five events being T38 at LIV Golf Virginia.
Teammate Abraham Ancer is also facing difficulties this season. The Mexican player has only secured a top-five finish (T2 at LIV Golf Adelaide) and hasn’t placed within the top 14 since March’s event in Singapore.
Recently signed Josele Ballester, a former U.S. Amateur champion, brings excitement but may require time to adapt to professional play. David Puig, recovering from an injury, anticipates participating this week.
To maintain their competitive status and avoid slipping further down the standings, Garcia needs to rediscover his form for the Fireballs.
7. Iron Heads GC
The season has been underwhelming for Iron Heads GC, but returning to the venue of their impressive run in last year’s LIV Golf Team Championship might be just what they need. The positive atmosphere at Maridoe, along with the recent comeback of Jinichiro Kozuma, could aid their progress. Kozuma, who missed the early part of the season due to a back issue, has shown promise since his return, finishing 21st in Mexico City, 7th in Korea, and T23 in Virginia.
All members of the Iron Heads currently rank 38th or lower in the individual standings.
8. Stinger GC
Stinger GC finds itself in eighth place in the team standings, falling short of the high expectations set for them in 2025. Despite good performances from Charl Schwartzel with two top-10 placements and consistent play from Dean Burmester, the team has been held back by a disappointing season from captain Louis Oosthuizen and a lackluster year from Branden Grace, who currently sits 50th in individual rankings.
Oosthuizen must regain his form at Maridoe for the team to remain competitive.
9. Smash GC
Under the leadership of Brooks Koepka, Smash GC has shown inconsistency this season but remains a threat, with some positive performances from their captain. This year, Koepka has achieved a runner-up finish in Singapore and T7 in Adelaide.
Talor Gooch, who enjoyed three victories in 2023, is improving, finishing in the top 10 in his last two events and looks poised to compete strongly this week. Another promising sign is Graeme McDowell, who performed excellently in his last outing at Virginia.
10. Cleeks GC
Martin Kaymer delivered an impressive T8 performance in Virginia, marking one of his best showings in the LIV Golf League this season. The two-time major champion made a statement with both his new bucket hat and stellar performance at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.
However, teammates Adrian Meronk and Richard Bland both finished T29, while Frederik Kjettrup was T47, not capitalizing on Kaymer’s resurgence.
To be competitive at Maridoe, Kaymer must carry his momentum from Virginia, while the other team members need to step up their performances.
11. RangeGoats GC
A standout performance from a vintage Bubba Watson was precisely what RangeGoats GC needed to revive their 2025 season. Watson achieved T4 at LIV Golf Virginia, marking his third consecutive top-20 finish. Additionally, Ben Campbell made headlines with a LIV Golf single-round record of seven straight birdies in his recent round.
On the downside, Matthew Wolff had to withdraw from LIV Golf Virginia due to injury, leaving his status for Dallas uncertain. Peter Uihlein, too, has struggled, not finishing in the top 20 for five consecutive events.
For the RangeGoats to excel at Maridoe, they’ll require more impressive performances from Watson and their other team members.
