Birmingham
Last season, the Blues excelled in League One, achieving a record EFL points total. They will kick off the Championship season at home against newly relegated Ipswich, and wrap up the season with an away game at Portsmouth. A notable match will occur on 26 November as Chris Davies’s squad makes a short trip of just under seven miles to face West Brom, while their longest journey will be to Middlesbrough on 8 November
Blackburn
After narrowly missing the playoffs by two points, Blackburn aims to advance this season, starting their campaign against West Brom. Their final match will see them face Leicester, who are also former champions. Blackburn’s closest away game will be a trip to Preston on 22 November, while their longest will take place on 13 December when they visit Portsmouth.
Bristol City
Bristol remains the largest city in England without a Premier League team. The Robins begin their season away at Sheffield United, who defeated them in last season’s playoffs. Their campaign will conclude with a match against Stoke. Bristol City’s shortest away fixture is a significant distance of over 80 miles to Swansea on 2 February, while their longest trek will be to Middlesbrough on 14 March.
Charlton
Nathan Jones’s team will return to Championship football for the first time in five years, beginning with a match against Watford and concluding the season against Swansea. The traveling Addicks will take a brief five-mile journey to Millwall on 24 January, before heading to Middlesbrough on 11 March, a far more extended 219-mile journey.
Coventry
Coventry starts their season against Hull City, just three months after their playoff defeat to Sunderland. They’ll conclude their campaign at Watford. The shortest journey for Frank Lampard’s side will be to Birmingham’s St Andrew’s on 4 January, while their furthest trip is to Middlesbrough, covering 180 miles on 25 November.
Ipswich
Kieran McKenna’s squad seeks immediate promotion to the Premier League, beginning with a match against Birmingham. Their final game will be against QPR, and they will face local rivals Norwich in the East Anglian derby on 11 April. Ipswich’s longest trip will take them 278 miles to Swansea.
