Phase 1 Balloting Results
Nearly 11 million votes were cast during Phase 1 before the polls closed on Thursday at noon ET, with results announced later that night on MLB Network. With votes counted, Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers emerged as the top vote-getters in their leagues, securing automatic starting positions for the 2025 PRO SPIRIT MLB All-Star Game.
Leading Candidates
Both players are reigning MVPs in their leagues and are pivotal to their star-studded teams. Judge is recognized as one of the game’s most formidable hitters, while Ohtani is a global superstar and possibly the most talented player ever seen in the sport, explaining their popularity in the voting.
Top Vote-Getters in Phase 1
This marks the third time Judge has led MLB in voting and the fourth in which he topped American League selections. Despite a quieter bat in June, he boasts an impressive .361/.461/.719 slash line with 28 homers. Ohtani matches Judge’s homer total, leading the National League with a 1.025 OPS, and he is the top NL vote-getter for the second time.
Advancing to Phase 2
In Phase 1, additional players exceeding 2.5 million votes included Dodgers catcher Will Smith, first baseman Freddie Freeman, Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, Guardians third baseman José Ramírez, and D-backs second baseman Ketel Marte. Phase 2 begins Monday at noon ET, featuring top finishers from Phase 1, excluding the NL designated hitter and with only the next four AL outfielders competing for spots alongside Judge.
Voting Details
Phase 2 will continue until noon ET on Wednesday, with online voting available via MLB.com and related platforms. Fans can vote once per day, resetting at midnight ET. Phase 2 winners will be revealed live on ESPN Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
