Alyona Agisheva, a 23-year-old MMA fighter from Russia, recently made headlines after winning a bronze medal at the Russian Sambo Federation Combat Women’s Championships held in Kazan. This event was backed by the Russian government’s “Nachionnyye Proekti Roshii” national project, aimed at improving national development and quality of life. The local government in Tumen has expressed its support for Agisheva, who has also signed a contract with the Korean martial arts organization, “Black Kombat.”
Agisheva was introduced as part of the “Nachionnyye Proekti Roshii,” which highlights government efforts to enhance sports and lifestyle quality. The Russian national program focuses on promoting sports and enhancing training opportunities.
In March 2025, during the championships in Kazan, Agisheva secured the bronze medal in the 65 kg category. The event was part of the Russian national program “Sports and Sports Development.” Sambo, a martial art with elements of judo and wrestling, includes “Kombat,” a variant akin to mixed martial arts. Kazan, known as the ‘Russian Sports Capital’, has hosted various prestigious events, including FIFA World Cup and BRICS Games.
Alyona is from the Thumen region in western Siberia, and she earned her bronze medal just six months after starting her Kombat Sambo training. The Russian government emphasizes the importance of physical education, with President Vladimir Putin endorsing initiatives that improve sports conditions and infrastructure.
Her anticipated matchup with Jeon Soo-min, a top female prospect in Korea, at Black Kombat Rise 6 was canceled due to Jeon’s injury. However, there are indications that this fight will be rescheduled. Park Pyeong-hwa, CEO of Black Kombat, confirmed that they remain committed to promoting this matchup.
Black Kombat has rapidly evolved into a notable promotion, ranking 10th in Asia and 27th globally within just over three years since its inception. Agisheva, the featherweight champion at the 2022 International MMA World Youth Championships, is seen as a rising star in women’s MMA.
As an accomplished fighter, Agisheva is not only a medalist at international competitions but has also made a name for herself in the professional MMA scene with multiple wins. The commitment to developing new talent in mixed martial arts is evident, and Agisheva’s journey continues to generate excitement in both Russia and Korea.
