LAS VEGAS – Drew Timme Shines at NBA Summer League
Drew Timme begins his third year at NBA Summer League, showing off impressive skills with viral dunks, flashy passes, and endorsements from prominent figures in the league.
Timme’s standout performance included considerable fan support, as “MVP” chants erupted following a 30-point game at the Thomas & Mack Center, although the Brooklyn Nets fell 102-96 to the Washington Wizards.
His exceptional showing during a nationally broadcast game led to a mid-game interview with ESPN and praise from well-known analyst Kendrick Perkins, who tweeted, “Drew Timme should be on some body roster getting quality minutes!!!!”
A Shift in Narrative
This marks a significant change in how Timme is viewed nationally; he went undrafted in 2023 and was not widely seen as NBA material by many analysts. Notably, the media-shy Timme learned of Perkins’ support during postgame interviews.
“That’s super cool, especially coming from someone with such experience,” Timme remarked. “It’s nice to see the narrative change since leaving college, as I aim to prove I belong in the league.”
Impressive Performances
By the end of the 2024-25 NBA season, doubts about Timme’s abilities had greatly diminished. During his nine appearances with Brooklyn, he averaged 13.0 points and 6.3 rebounds, including three double-doubles.
Timme continued to excel in Las Vegas, scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds in his debut, while showcasing eye-catching moments, including a remarkable dunk from a between-the-legs assist.
Fan Interaction and Future Goals
Timme expressed enthusiasm for the atmosphere, reminiscing about college days as he experienced fan support again. “It was a blast,” he said, though he hoped for a win next time. Through two games at Summer League, he has scored a total of 52 points, averaging 26 per game—ranking him second overall at the event.
