‘Leopard’ Luang Sanchiagu, a former Player of the Year in Brazil and currently ranked World No. 12, is set to compete in the 15th edition of Black Kombat at Inspire Arena.
In the mid-2010s, a prominent Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) star made his way to South Korea.
Black Kombat 15 is scheduled for August 23 at the Inspire Arena, which has a capacity of 120,000, located in Incheon, Yeongjong International City. Luang Sanchiagu, aged 31, is anticipated to fight in the welterweight category (77kg) in a match consisting of three 5-minute rounds.
Since its inception, Black Kombat has rapidly ascended, being recognized as Asia’s 10th and the global 27th largest MMA organization, featuring 55 ranked fighters in the “Fight Matrix” world rankings within just over three years.
Luang Sanchiagu was awarded the Osvaldo Paqueta Award for Player of the Year in 2016, which is often referred to as the Oscars of Brazilian MMA. He is also a 2019 Brave CF lightweight champion and has recently captured attention for this year’s KO selection.
In the third quarter of 2019, “Fight Matrix” rated Luang Sanchiagu as the 114th best lightweight, placing him within the top 53.2% globally. He has established a reputation by defeating notable fighters, including six from major leagues across various MMA promotions.
Luang Sanchiagu’s career stats showcase 23 wins and 7 losses, with 16 victories coming by KO/TKO. He has also won multiple titles, such as the Copa Striker’s House Champion and the Brave CF KO of the Year in 2019.
