Everton has officially approached Bayern Munich for Adam Aznou, as confirmed by David Moyes. This announcement followed his team’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the first match of the Premier League Summer Series in the U.S.
The club is actively pursuing the young left-back, and Moyes noted, “We have submitted an offer; it remains to be seen if it will be accepted. He is indeed a promising young left-back.”
Aznou, who was born in Barcelona to Moroccan parents, joined the renowned La Masia academy at age 13. After three years, he transitioned to Bayern Munich’s youth setup and made four appearances for the club. Last season, he spent the latter half on loan at Real Valladolid in Spain.
Moyes emphasized the club’s belief in Aznou’s skills and potential, urging fans to temper their expectations concerning the teenager’s immediate contributions.
“We view him as a player with significant future potential,” said Moyes. Currently, Aznou is anticipated to be a backup to Vitaliy Mykolenko, the only natural left-back on the roster.
According to a report by The Athletic, he is expected to undergo a medical assessment early this week ahead of a potential initial deal worth €9 million. If everything proceeds smoothly, Aznou may join the Everton squad on their United States tour.
When questioned about the club’s focus on younger players, Moyes responded, “Not specifically. To be candid, we have been aiming for more experienced players, preferably those over 25 with Premier League experience. Nevertheless, we still want to acquire some younger talents. By the end of the transfer window, I hope to achieve a mix of youth and experience.”
So far, Everton has signed three players during the transfer window, with only goalkeeper Mark Travers being over 25. Thierno Barry and Charly Alcaraz are both 22, while the highly-rated Adam Aznou is just 19 years old.
