Trump’s Impressive Win Amid Cheating Allegations
Leading up to the Bedminster Senior Club Championship, author Rick Reilly gave odds of 500,000-1 against anyone but Donald Trump winning. Reilly considered Trump a sure bet, not due to his golfing skills, but because he claims the former president cheats.
Reilly even published a book called “Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump,” where he elaborates on this topic. Although there’s no concrete proof of cheating, Trump once again emerged victorious at his own club, finishing with a score of 69, as reported by the White House.
This victory adds to Trump’s history of winning club titles—unless, of course, the skeptics are right about him manipulating the game. Reilly remained unconvinced and expressed skepticism, stating on social media, “So a chubby 79-year-old with the yips … just shot a 69 to win by 10? Sure.”
Before the tournament, Reilly challenged Trump on social media, questioning his integrity after witnessing alleged cheating in Scotland. When the results came in, Reilly commented, “Guess we got our answer. What a child.”
Reilly later shared a video purportedly showing Trump’s caddy dropping a ball for him during the event, emphasizing that it’s against the rules for caddies to do so. He remarked, “Our president is a (expletive) golf cheat.”
Reilly wasn’t alone in his criticisms; many others commented on the White House’s social media post, questioning Trump’s honesty. This scrutiny followed recent accusations related to Trump’s golf game in Scotland, where a video appeared to show him cheating.
As discussions continued online regarding Trump’s golfing ethics, Richard Painter, a former ethics lawyer, criticized Trump for using his presidency to promote his golf courses at taxpayer expense, suggesting it compromised the integrity of the office.
