Anna Sorokin Receives Threats Over Rabbit Incident
Anna “Delvey” Sorokin claims she has been bombarded with death threats following allegations that she abandoned pet rabbits she had posed with during a photoshoot in a Brooklyn park. The controversial figure has faced backlash over the incident.
Background on the Bunnies
The faux German heiress, who defrauded banks of tens of thousands of dollars, recently posed with three bunnies in Manhattan’s upscale Tribeca area. These rabbits were later found in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, stirring outrage among animal lovers online.
Shock and Denial
In light of the backlash, Sorokin expressed her disbelief at the extreme response to the situation, stating, “It seems to me like everything I do is just wrong. I can never do right by these people.”
Online Harassment
She shared screenshots of numerous hateful messages she received on social media, describing her account as “unusable.” Some comments were particularly harsh, suggesting violence against her. Sorokin noted that some people feel justified in attacking her because of their involvement in animal rescue.
Photo Shoot Details
Sorokin, whose life inspired the Netflix series “Inventing Anna,” took the photos on August 3 while seeking to create content for her Instagram, which boasts over 1.1 million followers. A 19-year-old hairstylist named Christian Batty provided the rabbits, and Sorokin paid him for his time and transportation.
Aftermath of the Incident
Following the photoshoot, Sorokin began receiving messages claiming the rabbits were abandoned in Prospect Park. Batty initially denied dumping them but later admitted to leaving them there and absolved Sorokin of any wrongdoing, stating he panicked and made a poor decision.
Concerns and Donations
Sorokin, who is currently dealing with immigration issues, expressed her worry about how this incident could impact her case. She confirmed donating $1,000 to All About Rabbits Rescue and denied harming the rabbits during the photoshoot.
