UNC Men’s Basketball Finalizes Roster for 2025-26 Season
Head coach Hubert Davis has officially confirmed the roster and jersey numbers for the UNC men’s basketball team as they prepare for the 2025-26 season. Following the departure of all five year-end starters from the previous season, the Tar Heels are welcoming a significant influx of new talent, comprising both freshmen and transfers.
Returning Players
Among the returners is senior guard Seth Trimble, who will retain his No. 7 jersey for the upcoming season. Trimble has participated in 102 games during his three years at Chapel Hill and is coming off a standout junior year, averaging 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Coach’s Enthusiasm
“I am very excited about this upcoming season and this year’s team, with Seth Trimble at the helm,” stated Hubert Davis, entering his fifth year as the head coach. “In the current landscape of college basketball, we’ve been fortunate to have several seasoned players choose to stay at UNC. Players like Leaky Black, Armando Bacot, R.J. Davis, and now Seth Trimble are vital for us.”
Additional Returners
Joining Trimble are four other returning players: senior guard Elijah Davis (son of Hubert Davis) in No. 6, sophomore forward James Brown in No. 2, sophomore forward John Holbrook in No. 25, and redshirt sophomore Zayden High in No. 1. High returns to the program after sitting out the entire 2024-25 season, with reports indicating he faced charges related to filming an encounter without consent.
Incoming Freshmen and Transfers
The Tar Heels are also adding three freshmen, highlighted by five-star forward Caleb Wilson from Atlanta, ranked as the No. 8 player in his class. He will don jersey No. 8. His peers include Derek Dixon, another Gatorade Player of the Year from D.C., also wearing No. 8, and in-state guard Isaiah Denis from Davidson, wearing No. 5. Several transfers are also making their way to UNC this season, including Kyan Evans from Colorado State and others from Alabama, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
International Addition
In addition to the domestic recruits, the team has secured an international talent, Montenegrin Luka Bogavac. Having played professionally overseas, he brings with him an average of 14.9 points per game from last season in the Adriatic Basketball Association.
Coach’s Vision
Reflecting on his new roster, Hubert Davis remarked, “As we head into summer, our goal was to add size and versatility to enhance our performance on both sides of the court. I truly believe we’ve achieved that.”
