Manchester United Aims to Revive ‘Theatre of Dreams’ for 2025-26 Season
Ruben Amorim insists that Manchester United must turn their home, Old Trafford, back into a fortress this season after a disappointing campaign where it was dubbed the ‘Theatre of Nightmares.’ Last season, the team suffered nine losses out of 19 home matches in the Premier League, conceding 28 goals while only scoring 23.
For United to regain their place at the top of the table, Amorim believes they must secure victories at home. He highlighted the club’s significant spending of £210 million to bolster their attacking lineup, which now includes Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo, as a step toward revitalizing the atmosphere at Old Trafford.
Amorim asserted: “We need to create an enjoyable experience for our fans. Our first match is against Arsenal, a formidable opponent. Many believe Arsenal will come out on top, but we are ready to challenge that perception this Sunday.”
He acknowledged the collective effort needed, saying, “It’s not just about the players but also the fans. I sensed a bit of anxiety during our friendly against Fiorentina. Changing the atmosphere is a gradual process, requiring teamwork from players, coaches, and supporters alike.”
Looking ahead, Amorim noted that with their strengthened squad, they aim to perform strongly this season, emphasizing the necessity of winning games, especially at home, to achieve their goals.
Despite a challenging last season and a managerial change, Amorim is confident after acquiring top players like Sesko for £73.6 million and others who have joined the team over the summer. He believes their new talent can shift the game dynamics and lead to victories even when the team is not dominating.
Amorim expressed optimism about the season’s start, asserting, “We are prepared for a strong fight against Arsenal. Our preseason prep has been solid, and though we may face struggles, we are committed to evolving throughout the season.”
