Following a lackluster performance with just three hits at Coors Field, the Padres found their rhythm on Saturday night, achieving 16 hits and 10 runs. This victory halted a five-game losing streak and brought them within a game of the Dodgers, who are leading the National League West.
Here’s a breakdown of some key performances from Saturday night’s 10–8 victory:
— RF Fernando Tatis Jr. had a notable game, going 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs. His impressive 441-foot homer was the longest for the Padres this season until Machado followed with a 452-foot shot on Sunday. This marked Tatis’ third home run in 10 games, bringing his season total to 20.
— 1B Luis Arraez contributed significantly, finishing 3-for-6 with two RBIs and a stolen base. This was Arraez’s 17th game this season with three hits, placing him third in the Major Leagues for such achievements.
— DH Ryan O’Hearn excelled by reaching base in all five of his plate appearances, with a record of 3-for-3, adding a double, a walk, getting hit by a pitch, and scoring twice.
— LF Ramón Laureano continued his hitting spree, going 2-for-5 and hitting a double, extending his hitting streak to seven games. During this stretch, he boasts a .407 average with three doubles, a home run, and a total of four RBIs.
— C Freddy Fermin also stood out, recording a 2-for-5 performance that included a double, three RBIs, and two runs, marking the fourth game of his career with three RBIs. In his last two starts, he has gone 4-for-7 with three doubles.
On the injury front, RHP Randy Vásquez secured the win, allowing three runs (two earned) over six innings while striking out three. This marked his first game back after a stint on paternity leave. RHP Robert Suarez notched his 36th save, equaling his total from the previous season.
