Lisandro Martinez’s Impact Beyond Injuries at Manchester United
Lisandro Martinez has faced numerous injuries during his 18 months at Manchester United but continues to showcase his leadership skills despite being sidelined.
At 27, Martinez is actively working to recover from a knee injury sustained during a February match against Crystal Palace. Known as ‘The Butcher’ among fans, he underwent surgery shortly after that game.
Although he can’t play right now, the World Cup champion remains involved behind the scenes, attending team meetings and maintaining a presence at the club’s training ground in Carrington.
During the pre-season tour in the United States, he continued his rehabilitation program while supporting his teammates, highlighting his commitment to the club.
Coach Ruben Amorim has praised the versatile defender, noting his importance to the first team. Although a specific return date is yet to be set, Martinez’s recent video of him jogging suggests his comeback may be imminent.
His absence has been felt, especially in defense, and supporters look forward to his return. In the 16 games he played under Amorim, Martinez contributed with two goals and two assists, with the team winning eight matches and recording three clean sheets.
