Conor McGregor’s Commitment to Comeback
Since breaking his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021, Conor McGregor has been hinting at a return to the octagon. Now, he appears more dedicated than ever, with plans to compete on the upcoming UFC White House card in 2026.
McGregor has channeled his focus into training and preparation after withdrawing from the presidential race in Ireland. He seems determined to return to fighting for the first time in five years. UFC CEO Dana White noted that McGregor has been in constant communication with him about re-entering the ring, expressing confidence that McGregor will show up if the fight is booked.
David Feldman, president of BKFC, has also noted a shift in McGregor’s motivation since he became a part-owner of the bare-knuckle fighting promotion. Feldman described McGregor’s seriousness about his comeback, stating, “He’s going to do that fight unless something really crazy happens.”
Feldman has observed a newfound determination in McGregor, particularly with the potential for a historic fight at the White House event in 2026 fueling his drive. “This truly is the best Conor McGregor I’ve seen,” he said, highlighting McGregor’s focused attitude while training.
As McGregor prepares for the July 4 card next year, Feldman believes that if he maintains his focus and training regimen, he has a genuine shot at returning to his former glory.
Although McGregor still has two fights left in his UFC contract, he has openly expressed interest in eventually participating in a bare-knuckle match in BKFC. Feldman believes that McGregor is serious about this future aspiration, despite any skepticism surrounding it.
Looking ahead, Feldman noted that the outcome of the White House card will greatly influence McGregor’s future in combat sports. He believes a victory could likely lead to another fight, and as a co-owner of BKFC, McGregor stands to gain significantly more from competing there than solely through UFC bouts.
