President Donald Trump maintained that the ceasefire in Gaza is still ongoing following Israeli airstrikes in the region, amidst accusations of breaches from both Israel and Hamas regarding the fragile agreement he played a role in establishing.
“We want to ensure a peaceful resolution with Hamas,” Trump said to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, following a series of Israeli strikes responding to alleged Hamas attacks on Israeli forces in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
After escalating tensions, the strikes on Sunday posed a substantial risk to the ceasefire. However, the Israel Defense Forces announced a “renewed enforcement of the ceasefire” following the attacks.
