Scottie Scheffler and his spouse Meredith have unveiled the launch of the Randy Smith Junior Tour—a complimentary and inclusive junior golf circuit aimed at providing children across Texas with access to golf without financial constraints.
In collaboration with the Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA), Scheffler‘s new initiative will cater to boys and girls aged six to 12, completely eliminating membership and entry fees.
Meredith Scheffler will be actively involved in shaping the program, which aims to make golf more accessible and welcoming for families. The couple, who tied the knot in 2020 and welcomed their first child, Bennett, in 2024, stated that this project represents their commitment to giving back to the community that has influenced Scheffler’s golfing journey.
“This tour is about offering kids the same opportunity that Randy gave me,” Scheffler shared with The Dallas Morning News. “He taught me that golf is more than just about the scores. It’s about character, respect, and those who assist you along the way. That’s the legacy Meredith and I are excited to pass on.”
The junior golf series is named in tribute to Scheffler’s long-time coach and mentor Randy Smith, who has been a significant presence in his life since he was six years old. The Randy Smith Junior Golf Tour is set to officially launch in 2026 and will feature 10 to 12 events in North Texas, focusing on fun, learning, and sportsmanship rather than competition.
Overview of the Randy Smith Junior Golf Tour
- Ages: 6–12 (boys and girls, subdivided by age groups)
- Courses: Par-3 layouts using 6- or 9-hole formats
- Format: Four-player teams (each competitor plays their own ball)
- Guidance: High school golfers mentor younger participants
- Scoring: Non-competitive “stamp system” rewarding effort
- Parents: Encouraged to observe, but not act as caddies

This initiative comes in response to increasing costs in youth sports that often limit participation. By eliminating these financial obstacles, the Randy Smith Junior Tour aspires to make golf more accessible and inclusive while honoring the legacy of the mentor who shaped one of golf’s contemporary greats.
