This event will offer two LIV Golf spots and ten entries for the International Series, which includes purses ranging from $1.5 million to $2 million. Given the entry conditions, LIV anticipates a competitive and skilled field. The replacement of relegated LIV golfers is crucial for securing OWGR points, and the location in PGA Tour territory raises the question of player attendance.
The Talent Landscape
The level of talent in professional golf is currently unparalleled, and with fewer openings in the PGA and Korn Ferry Tours by 2026, it seems likely that many eager players will participate in this Promotions event. However, the media rights regulations of the PGA Tour complicate player participation.
Media Rights Challenges
As reported by Bob Harig, since the qualifier will be held and broadcasted in North America, the PGA Tour categorizes LIV Promotions as an unauthorized event. Consequently, media releases for Tour members will not be allowed, and players without PGA Tour status risk suspension from upcoming tournaments. Therefore, participating in LIV Promotions could prevent a player from qualifying for Monday qualifiers and Q school in 2026.
Comparison to Previous Events
Previous LIV Promotions took place in Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, but the distant venues and timing discouraged many American players. Last year, only one qualifying spot in Riyadh led to several players skipping the event, yet 93 still played in Saudi Arabia. Despite initial disciplinary threats during the Abu Dhabi event, few Tour members participated, allowing the Tour to avoid enforcement. With this event in Florida and focused on young American talent, the PGA Tour is adopting a firmer approach.

Entry requirements are strict, limited to high-achieving amateurs, national champions, and top-ranked professionals. The PGA Tour’s deterrent effect is in question: will it discourage participation, or did LIV misjudge the response to a domestic broadcast?
