Emma Raducanu’s Off-Season Reflections
Emma Raducanu has secured numerous endorsement deals in her early career, but one sponsorship that particularly excites her is becoming an ambassador for the London borough of Bromley.
In a roundtable discussion with tennis journalists at the end of a busy yet rewarding season, Raducanu shares her thoughts on a quiet off-season at her family home. “I feel so settled,” she states. “I haven’t spent much time in the UK this year due to competing, but the quality time with my parents has been wonderful. Being in Bromley brings back memories from my childhood—it’s the same bedroom, everything feels familiar.”
“Bromley boasts fantastic specialty coffee shops that weren’t here a few years ago, and I’ve enjoyed trying out the new spots. The greenery is lovely, and commuting on the train has been an experience too. As soon as I board the South Western train to Waterloo, I feel like my day is done,” she explains.
Raducanu’s sense of peace has come after a positive season where she made significant progress, climbing from outside the top 60 to No. 29—her best ranking since 2022. She has played more consistently this year, which has contributed to her improved results.
In addition, she has worked towards building stability within her team, a challenge she has faced since the beginning of her career. Raducanu has formed a promising coaching relationship with Francisco Roig, who was previously part of Rafael Nadal’s coaching team, and will start the 2026 season with a new physiotherapist and strength coach, Emma Stewart.
Recently, Raducanu has focused on breaking away from tennis. After ending her season prematurely in Asia due to illness, she has dedicated time to improving her language skills, including Chinese, Spanish, and French. “I’m trying to do everything,” she smiles. “I need rest days from my rest days!”
Looking ahead, Raducanu’s next tournament will be alongside her friend Jack Draper in the United Cup in Australia. This week, she will start an intense pre-season training block in Barcelona with Roig, aiming to enhance her skills and reduce the gap between herself and the top players in the world. “I’ve faced many challenges this year, but I’ve learned a lot about my own strength and what I need to do to continue progressing,” she concludes.
