More than ever before, we’re witnessing mothers returning to the Hologic WTA Tour post-birth and achieving remarkable success.
2025 was no exception, with mothers consistently making memorable strides, winning titles, and climbing the rankings. Beyond their on-court achievements, they embody resilience, strength, and determination, sending powerful messages to women worldwide.
Here are some notable accomplishments by mothers on the WTA Tour in 2025, showcasing their strength and inspiring women around the globe.
Belinda Bencic
At 28, Bencic captured the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open just 10 months after giving birth to her daughter, Bella, marking the first time a mother had won a WTA Tour singles title since 2023.
During the trophy presentation, she celebrated her ninth career title while holding Bella. “We feel so grateful and blessed to have Bella in our lives,” Bencic shared after defeating Ashlyn Krueger in the final. “To be able to pursue my passion and see such positive results is a dream come true.” Later in the season, she became a nominee for WTA Comeback Player of the Year and clinched her tenth title in Tokyo, rising from No. 487 at the season’s start to No. 11 by the end.
Tatjana Maria
Maria, at 38, made headlines in June by winning the HSBC Championships in London after coming through qualifying. This marked the first women’s victory in this tournament at Queen’s Club since 1973, as it returned to the venue after over 50 years. It was also her first WTA 500 title.
The mother of two girls experienced a remarkable week, winning seven consecutive matches, including victories against notable players like Elena Rybakina and Madison Keys. “This is a special moment for our family,” Maria said after becoming the tour’s oldest singles champion since Serena Williams in 2020. “We won this trophy together because we support each other.” She started the year ranked 89th and ended at No. 45.
Taylor Townsend
The mother of 4-year-old Adyn, who gained social media fame cheering for her during the US Open, made history in 2025 by becoming the first mother to reach No. 1 in the world doubles rankings. She also secured her second doubles major title, winning the Australian Open with Katerina Siniakova.
Townsend added three more doubles titles in Dubai, Washington, D.C., and Osaka, qualifying for the WTA Finals in Riyadh. At 29, she also made a notable run to the fourth round of the US Open in singles, upsetting fifth-seeded Mirra Andreeva.
Naomi Osaka
The four-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed a resurgence in 2025. After welcoming her daughter, Shai, in July 2023, Osaka began the year strong, reaching the Auckland final, and later winning her first title since 2021 at the WTA 125 in Saint-Malo.
Her notable return continued over the summer with a final appearance in Montreal and a semifinal berth at the US Open, her first semifinal appearance in New York as a mother. “I’m inspired by all the moms on tour,” Osaka remarked after her US Open quarterfinal victory. She finished the season ranked No. 16, her highest since returning from maternity leave, rising from No. 57 at the year’s start.
Elina Svitolina
Svitolina had a strong 2025, reaching the Australian Open quarterfinals and the French Open. The 31-year-old added her 18th career title—her first in nearly two years—by winning the WTA 250 Open Rouen Capfinances Metropole in France, securing five consecutive wins without dropping a set.
As the mother of 3-year-old Skaï, Svitolina finished the year ranked No. 14 with an impressive 35-15 record.
