Record-Breaking Performance by Smriti Mandhana

On December 28, Mandhana showcased her exceptional talent during the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, scoring a remarkable 80 runs off 48 balls. Her innings included 11 fours and 3 sixes, forming a formidable opening partnership of 162 runs in 92 balls alongside Shafali Verma, who scored 79 runs off 46 balls.
This stellar performance not only earned her the Player of the Match award but also made her the first female cricketer to surpass 1700 runs in a calendar year.
Previously, Mandhana set the record for most runs in a calendar year with 1659 runs in 35 matches in 2024. In 2025, she has already scored 1703 runs across 32 matches thus far.
In terms of format contributions in 2025, Mandhana has amassed 1362 runs in 23 ODIs and 341 runs in 9 T20Is, becoming the only woman cricketer to score over 1000 runs in a calendar year in ODIs.
In addition to her remarkable run-scoring, Mandhana also became the fourth woman cricketer globally, after Mithali Raj, Charlotte Edwards, and Suzie Bates, to exceed 10,000 runs in her cricketing career. She achieved this milestone in just 280 innings, making her the fastest to reach this mark in women’s cricket.
