PERTH, Australia — During the offseason, World No. 8 Jasmine Paolini officially welcomed fellow Italian Sara Errani to her team.
This decision was expected, as Errani has frequently been seen in Paolini’s box. Leading up to the United Cup, Paolini’s revamped team will take center stage after a 2025 season marked by various coaching changes. Danilo Pizzorno, who joined during the Asian swing, will be her main coach, while Errani will manage Paolini’s tactical strategies.
“It felt like the right moment to officially recognize her role in the team,” Paolini stated at the United Cup Perth media day. “I’m thrilled about that. She has a profound understanding of tennis, which can significantly enhance our team’s performance. We started working together last year.”
Throughout a tumultuous 2025 season, Errani was a steady presence for Paolini. Last year, Paolini made history as the first Italian since Raffaella Reggi to win Italy’s major event, the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, since 1985. Additionally, the duo successfully defended their doubles title in Rome and secured their first Grand Slam victory at Roland Garros.
As the WTA Tour Driven by Mercedes-Benz season kicks off in Australia, Paolini aims for stability, clarity, and continuity—attributes she believes this team structure can provide.
“I’m happy to be there for her and support her improvement this year,” Errani expressed. “We’re excited to play in this competition together.”
In Perth, Paolini will compete against Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic and France’s Leolia Jeanjean in Group C. Last year, Paolini triumphed over Bencic with a score of 6-1, 6-1 during the group stage.
