Jeff Bridges Lists Malibu Property Following Wildfires
Iconic actor Jeff Bridges has placed his family’s long-held property in Malibu, CA on the market. This comes after the house that once occupied the now-empty land was ravaged by the 2025 California wildfires.
Family Legacy
The 76-year-old “True Grit” star, who primarily resides in Santa Barbara, CA, inherited the home alongside his siblings, Beau Bridges and their sister. A spokesperson confirmed that the four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence had been passed down through generations, originally inherited from their parents, Lloyd and Dorothy.
Property History
Located on Malibu’s beachfront, the property had previously been listed for rent multiple times and was briefly on the market in July 2024 for $9.2 million. Just before the devastating fires broke out on January 7, 2025, the asking price was reduced to $8.85 million.
Converted Listing
After the family lost the home, they removed the listing, later reintroducing it as a vacant lot priced at $4.95 million. The current listing has seen a further price decrease to $4.37 million, representing a significant drop from its original valuation.
Building Opportunities
The listing emphasizes the lot’s prime location on La Costa Beach, offering a rare chance to construct a dream home. With its expansive sandy beach and favorable tide conditions, the site promises a desirable coastal lifestyle. The land retains a considerable footprint for potential future development.
Celebrity Impact
Bridges follows several other celebrities who have lost their homes to the wildfires, including Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Paris Hilton, Anthony Hopkins, and Mandy Moore. The wildfires have also had broader implications for property values in the area.
Market Valuation Insights
A recent analysis by Realtor.com® revealed significant declines in home values in fire-affected areas. The combined value of homes in Pacific Palisades and Altadena dropped substantially, with homeowners witnessing a loss of $8.3 billion in total property value across the impacted neighborhoods.
