With Brooks Koepka departing from LIV Golf, attention shifted to Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm. However, Dustin Johnson has now emerged as another top player in the spotlight that deserves recognition in the golf community.
As discussions about who might follow Koepka emerged, DJ firmly established his position, creating a significant buzz with his recent announcement.
Dustin Johnson has extended his contract with LIV Golf, reinforcing his role as captain of 4Aces GC through the 2026 season. “Our team is designed for pivotal moments, and 2026 presents a great opportunity for us to advance,” Johnson remarked, emphasizing the significance of new member Thomas Detry. “He brings confidence and competitiveness, essential traits for our goals.”
Thomas Detry has officially joined the 4Aces GC after negotiations with LIV Golf. Meanwhile, Johnson, a two-time major champion, stands firmly in his support for LIV Golf amidst the ongoing PGA Tour-LIV Golf rivalry.
Having joined the Saudi-backed league in 2022, DJ has celebrated three individual wins, including events in Las Vegas, Tulsa, and Boston. He has consistently championed his choice to join LIV Golf. “I was originally committed to the PGA Tour, but this was better for my family and me,” he noted.
Johnson candidly recognizes the financial benefits of his decision, a sentiment echoed in his new multi-year contract. This move comes at a time when Bryson DeChambeau, amid shifting dynamics after Koepka’s exit, has hinted at the potential for change in his own future with LIV Golf.
With the announcement of the Returning Member Program to facilitate returns of LIV golfers to the PGA Tour, both DeChambeau and Rahm, despite being eligible, have chosen to continue with LIV Golf for 2026. This decision highlights DJ’s stability in contrast to DeChambeau’s uncertain future options.
