Casemiro Set to Depart Manchester United
Casemiro will be leaving Manchester United at the conclusion of the season as his current contract at Old Trafford comes to an end.
This announcement marks the end of his four-year tenure with the club, during which he celebrated a League Cup final win in 2023 and reached two FA Cup finals, conquering the tournament in 2024.
The Brazilian midfielder was also part of the United team that made it to the Europa League final last May.
Having joined the club in August 2022, Manchester United had the option to extend his contract for another year. However, sources from Sky Sports News indicate that the club has opted not to exercise that option and will not be renewing his contract, a decision that was made well before Thursday’s announcement as they plan a midfield overhaul in the near future.
This decision provides Casemiro clarity for the rest of the season, especially as he prepares to represent Brazil in the upcoming World Cup this summer.
Previously, it was reported that Casemiro is among the squad’s highest earners, making a contract renewal unlikely. Releasing his salary would free up more funds for future midfield investments.
In his own words, Casemiro stated, “I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” expressing his profound connection to the club and its supporters as he prepares for a farewell while maintaining focus on the rest of the season.
