Myles Garrett Claims Second NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett won his second NFL Defensive Player of the Year award during the NFL Honors ceremony, receiving all 50 first-place votes.
Historic Season Accomplishments
Garrett’s recognition came after a remarkable season in which he recorded 23 sacks, setting a new NFL single-season record. At the awards ceremony in San Francisco, he expressed gratitude towards his teammates and coaches, stating, “It doesn’t just start with me.”
Top League Statistics
In addition to his impressive sack total, Garrett led the league with 33 tackles for loss. He is now among only nine players to have won multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards, making him the only active player with this distinction.
Offensive Player of the Year
Meanwhile, Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seahawks also had a breakout year, becoming the second player in franchise history to win the Offensive Player of the Year award. Smith-Njigba led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards.
Rookie Award Winners
The Offensive Rookie of the Year award went to Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who led all rookies with 1,014 receiving yards. On the defensive side, Carson Schwesinger won Defensive Rookie of the Year after leading all rookies with 157 tackles.
Comeback and Coach of the Year
Christian McCaffrey was named Comeback Player of the Year after recovering from an injury-riddled previous season, posting 2,126 yards from scrimmage. Coach of the Year went to Mike Vrabel, who led the Patriots to an impressive turnaround from 4-13 to 14-3, tying historical records in the process.
Honors for Service and Contributions
Additionally, Bobby Wagner received the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for his charitable work, particularly honoring his late mother. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was also recognized as Assistant Coach of the Year.
