If you haven’t already spent nearly $3,000 on a Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, you may be out of luck. The company is starting to wind down sales of the folding phone just a couple of months after its US launch.
This decision isn’t due to a lack of interest; in fact, the device saw strong sales in both the US and South Korea. While the sales period was brief, it allowed Samsung to highlight its design skills and assess customer interest.
All available units in Samsung’s home market of South Korea are reportedly sold out, according to a company statement. However, customers in other regions might still have a chance to buy the device. In the US, the TriFold can only be purchased through the Samsung website or at one of its seven Experience Stores nationwide.
According to Samsung, “The Galaxy Z TriFold was introduced as a super-premium device in limited quantities.” Earlier reports from Bloomberg indicated a halt in the phone’s sales.
A check on the Samsung website showed no available TriFold phones, although Bloomberg mentioned that some customers recently found the phone at Experience Stores in Frisco, Texas, and Queens, New York. Several users on the Galaxy Z TriFold subreddit reported having successfully acquired one.
The Galaxy Z TriFold was announced on December 1, 2025, made its debut in South Korea on December 12, and became available in the US on January 30. Featuring a 6.5-inch cover display and dual hinges that expand it into a 10-inch main screen, the phone is priced at $2,899.
The device was never intended as a regular offering in Samsung’s lineup, but rather a “flagship showcase” to demonstrate their capabilities in creating a trifold phone, according to the South Korean newspaper Dong-A Ilbo. Reports suggested that only 3,000 units were sold on both the release day and five days later.
