IPL 2026: Key Overseas Players for Each Team
The IPL 2026 season is set to begin on March 28, and teams are adjusting their lineups due to injuries and last-minute absences. As franchises prepare, the contributions of overseas players are expected to be vital in shaping each team’s success. Here’s a breakdown of the projected four overseas players for each IPL team this season:
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
For RCB, Phil Salt is anticipated to play a crucial role at the top of the order, aiming to deliver explosive starts. Finishing duties will likely fall to power hitters Romario Shepherd and Tim David. With Josh Hazlewood’s unavailability, Jacob Duffy is expected to join the pace attack.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Last season, Dewald Brevis significantly boosted CSK’s middle order, and he will be joining from the beginning this time, contributing at No. 4. Jamie Overton will add balance as a seam-bowling all-rounder, while Matt Henry will provide wicket-taking ability. Noor Ahmad is expected to lead the spin bowling department.
Mumbai Indians (MI)
MI appears strong with Quinton de Kock likely to open alongside Rohit Sharma. Will Jacks is expected to add aggression in the middle order, exhibiting his talent from the recent T20 World Cup. Mitchell Santner will offer depth in batting and control in spin bowling, while veteran pacer Trent Boult will be crucial with the new ball.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
KKR’s bowling can depend on the quick pace of Matheesha Pathirana, with Sunil Narine’s experience being invaluable. Cameron Green adds versatility as an all-rounder, while Finn Allen is poised to provide fire at the top of the order, having performed exceptionally in the T20 World Cup semi-final.
Punjab Kings (PBKS)
PBKS, last season’s runners-up, will heavily rely on Marcus Stoinis and Marco Jansen’s all-round skills. Azmatullah Omarzai adds additional depth, while Xavier Bartlett is expected to step up in the bowling unit alongside Marco Jansen in the absence of Lockie Ferguson.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
DC’s batting lineup will feature Pathum Nissanka opening with KL Rahul. The middle order will be bolstered by the explosive duo David Miller and Tristan Stubbs. Lungi Ngidi, fresh off a championship win with RCB, will enhance the pace attack alongside T Natarajan and Mukesh Kumar.
Gujarat Titans (GT)
GT has a well-rounded overseas core with Jos Buttler anchoring the top order. Jason Holder adds all-round stability, and the bowling unit will rely on world-class talents Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada to maintain strength in the attack.
