UFL Season Starts with Former Packers Involvement
The United Football League is set to begin this Friday night, featuring a match between the Louisville Kings and the Birmingham Stallions, which will be broadcast on Fox. As the spring league season approaches, it’s time to delve into this year’s rosters and identify former Green Bay Packers players participating in the league.
Notable Former Packers in the UFL
Here’s a list of former Packers—regardless of their tenure with the team—who made the final rosters for the eight UFL teams in 2026. Please let me know if there are any omissions.
- QB Taylor Elgersma
- RB Tyrion Davis-Price
- TE Tyler Davis
- OL Zack Johnson
- EDGE Kobe Jones
Player Profiles
Taylor Elgersma, a Canadian quarterback, tried to secure a place on the Packers’ roster last summer but was released during cuts. Both he and Sean Clifford were let go, making way for Clayton Tune as the practice squad quarterback for the 2025 season.
Tyrion Davis-Price, a former 2022 third-round choice of the San Francisco 49ers, spent a brief period in Green Bay before being released. He rejoined the practice squad but hadn’t played until signing with the Stallions.
Career Struggles and Opportunities
Tyler Davis has been part of 31 games with the Packers but faced injuries in both 2023 and 2024, halting his seasons. He had a short stint with the New England Patriots last year before being released, and the UFL marks his first opportunity to play since 2022.
Zack Johnson was never on the active game roster but was associated with the team from 2020 to 2021. He earned All-UFL honors in 2024. Kobe Jones had limited action with the Packers in 2022 and primarily occupied a practice squad role.
Additional Former Players
- QB Jalen Morton
- TE Alize Mack
- TE Cam McDonald
- S Henry Black
Jalen Morton started his NFL career with the Packers but was released before training camp during the COVID year. He has since played for various teams, including the Colts and the Stallions.
Both Alize Mack and Cam McDonald played tight end for Green Bay, with Mack dealing with injuries that led to his release in 2022. McDonald, meanwhile, was part of the team in 2023.
Henry Black appeared in 25 games for the Packers over two seasons, predominantly contributing on special teams. Since then, he has played for six different teams.
Other Notable Names
Ellis Merriweather spent a year and a half on the practice squad but never saw regular-season action, while Adrian Ealy only lasted two weeks on the practice squad late in 2021.
- OL Cole Schneider
- EDGE Keshawn Banks
Cole Schneider joined the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 but was released shortly after. After playing for the Stallions, he returned to the Packers only to be cut again, later re-signing with the Stallions.
Keshawn Banks was a post-draft addition to the Packers and made the practice squad during his rookie campaign. He appeared in one playoff game for the team and has since been released at cutdown.
Recent Signings
- QB Michael Pratt
- RB Jarveon Howard
- LB Michael Barrett
- LB Tariq Carpenter
Both Michael Pratt and Tariq Carpenter were seventh-round selections by the Packers. Pratt was waived after training camp in 2024 and has spent time with various teams since then, while Carpenter played 14 games in his rookie year, primarily on special teams.
Jarveon Howard started with the Packers but was waived mid-season due to an injury. This is his second time with the Battlehawks. Michael Barrett was briefly on the practice squad but was ultimately not signed after his rookie season.
