Chase “Mannimal” Mann boasts an unbeaten record in professional fighting, largely thanks to his powerlifting experience.
This American fighter, who typically weighs around 185 pounds, once achieved a remarkable total of 1,820 pounds in a single powerlifting event combining his squat, bench press, and deadlift. These impressive feats translate into undeniable force in the ring, causing opponents to second-guess their strategies.
Mann is set to face off against the undefeated Turkish talent Dzhabir Dzhabrailov in a welterweight MMA showdown at ONE Fight Night 42 on Prime Video, scheduled for Friday, April 10, in U.S. primetime. He aims to showcase his formidable power once again.
Turning Points in Life
At 19, Mann was searching for a positive change after spending time in a rehabilitation center. With a newborn daughter, he needed to find direction swiftly and ultimately discovered it unexpectedly in a local gym.
“I went to a local gym, and the day I arrived, a powerlifting competition was happening. The athletes were massive, and the atmosphere was electrifying. It was intriguing to witness.”
A significant turning point occurred days later when a stranger, Logan Chapman, approached Mann during his bench press session and offered coaching tips. Chapman, an esteemed powerlifter with a best total of 2,397.5 pounds, became a mentor for Mann, amplifying his potential in the sport.
A Record-Breaking Journey
Within three months, Mann was competing and secured first place in his division at 181 pounds. Just a couple of months later, he shattered a state record by improving his squat from 565 pounds to 617.3 pounds. This sparked an obsession; he quickly became deeply invested in powerlifting.
“Within six months, I was fully obsessed, just like in everything I do. I dive in completely, which I think is linked to my ADHD.”
Over the next few years, Mann continued to set and break records, eventually securing numerous titles and making his mark in competitions above 200 pounds. The blend of competition and pressure helped hone his drive, fostering an unshakeable determination that continues to fuel him.
Fundamental Strength
After three years of powerlifting, Mann lifted a total of 1,820 pounds in his final competition. However, his drinking habits posed challenges for his MMA aspirations, prompting him to reassess his lifestyle. Discovering MMA reignited his passion and focus.
“I’m a fighter, man. I was born for this. Since embracing MMA, I haven’t touched alcohol. I am at peace.”
The strong foundation gained from years of powerlifting seamlessly transitions into his MMA training, contributing to his success in wrestling and grappling. Mann expresses how this strength has been evident in every fight.
Claiming the MMA Stage
With a perfect 6-0 record in professional MMA, Mann earned the opportunity to showcase his skills on a global platform. At ONE Fight Night 39 this January, he extended his winning streak with a first-round TKO of Isi “Doxz” Fitikefu.
The strength cultivated in Arkansas continues to be the cornerstone of his performance in the octagon, where he displays relentless pressure and resilience against his opponents. At ONE Fight Night 42, Dzhabrailov will face the enduring strength that Mann has established.
