The primary narrative throughout the Eagles’ offseason has been the potential trade of A.J. Brown. Speculation continues around which team might be a fitting trade partner.
However, an even bigger concern that deserves attention is the condition of the Eagles’ offensive line.
Winning Super Bowl LIX came at a cost—a battered offensive line that ultimately facilitated Saquon Barkley’s record-breaking 2024 NFL season of 2,504 rushing yards. This involved playing more games, enduring additional injuries, and having less time to recuperate for the following season, reflecting the toll that success takes in the NFL.
Unfortunately, in 2025, the Eagles’ offensive line saw a decline in performance. Left tackle Jordan Mailata, left guard Landon Dickerson, and center Cam Jurgens underperformed compared to their previous levels. Pro Football Focus rated the team’s offensive line from first in 2024 to seventh in 2025, with Mailata slipping from the top to sixth place and Dickerson falling from ninth to thirtieth.
Injuries played a crucial role in this decline, particularly for Johnson, who suffered a Lisfranc ligament sprain in November 2025, resulting in the fewest snaps he’s taken since 2020. Concerns linger about how much longer he can be relied upon to play a full season at his age.
Dickerson contemplated retirement after a notable decline in snaps due to injuries, while Jurgens faced his own struggles stemming from offseason back surgery. Both players’ conditions could affect the offensive line’s performance in the upcoming season.
As NFL expert Brian Baldinger highlighted, the Eagles need to address their offensive line issues more urgently than the trade rumors surrounding A.J. Brown. With new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion and offensive line coach Chris Kuper stepping in, changes are anticipated in the blocking scheme, which could help mitigate previous struggles and injuries.
