Here’s another Eagles mailbag! A big thank you to our dedicated BGN readers for submitting questions in The Feed. I’ve also published mailbags on Tuesday and Thursday this week, so be sure to check those out as well.
Let’s dive in…
Jarvin Driftwood: What are the chances the Eagles pick a QB on Day 2?
I think there’s a decent possibility of that happening. This isn’t just a reaction to the recent ESPN report by Jeremy Fowler and Tim McManus regarding Jalen Hurts, but rather a broader reflection on the franchise’s decisions over the years. The phrase “quarterback factory” might have drawn some skepticism initially, but it has consistently held true.
I was a strong supporter of Carson Wentz after the 2019 season, and I, like many Eagles fans, was surprised—if not upset—when Jalen Hurts was drafted in 2020. Ultimately, it turned out to be beneficial! While the success rate of Day 2 quarterbacks isn’t as high as that of first-round picks, a competent young QB on a budget-friendly rookie deal is invaluable. If the Eagles recognize a potential star quarterback who is falling in the draft, they’ll likely pursue this option, irrespective of Hurts’ recent accolades.
Regarding the 54th pick in the second round? That makes me a bit uneasy since this team has a chance to be competitive in 2026. Selecting a quarterback with one of their third-round picks (No. 68 or No. 98) would be a more strategic choice.
VetStadiumSection358: As we approach the 2026 NFL Draft, we have a good understanding of the Eagles’ starters. Which position group worries you the most for the next few years?
I would say the entire offensive line, excluding Jordan Mailata at left tackle.
As of now, the successor to Lane Johnson isn’t on the roster, especially with the draft approaching.
