Exciting Return for Pat Perez at Senior PGA Championship
BRADENTON, Fla. — Pat Perez found himself outside the Concession Golf Club clubhouse when he bumped into veteran PGA Tour player Paul Goydos, who playfully doubted whether Perez had truly turned 50 before making his debut this week.
First Competitive Appearance in 19 Months
Rejoining his longtime caddie Mike Hartford, Perez is set to kick off the Senior PGA Championship on Thursday, marking his first competitive outing in 19 months.
PGA Tour Career and Transition to LIV Golf
The three-time PGA Tour winner had a turbulent transition to LIV Golf for three seasons before taking on a broadcasting role. Currently, he aims for a limited return to the 50-and-over golfing scene in 2026 due to a suspension that prevents him from participating in PGA Tour Champions events until 2027.
A Complicated Situation, Yet Grateful
Despite the intricate circumstances surrounding his career, Perez, who celebrated his 50th birthday on March 1, remains appreciative of the opportunities that are now available to him.

Future Plans and Tournament Participation
Currently, Perez can only participate in this week’s Senior PGA Championship, alongside the U.S. Senior Open in July and the Senior Open Championship, and is contemplating entering DP World Tour or Asian Tour events next year. However, he admits that he has a lot of work ahead, as he had not even touched a club for nine months after leaving LIV Golf.
Looking Ahead with a Positive Attitude
Perez expresses gratitude for the chance to compete again and despite wishing to play full-time this year, he is content with taking things as they come, especially considering how uncertain his future once appeared.
