Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur has established himself as a formidable competitor in Grand Slam tournaments recently.
De Minaur, Australia’s top player, made his first quarter-final appearance at the US Open in 2020, but it wasn’t until his latest four Grand Slam tournaments that he successfully reached the last eight again, after a series of 13 tournaments without matching that success.
Over the past year, De Minaur has elevated his game, qualifying for the quarter-finals in his last four Major events.
In 2025, De Minaur triumphed over Alex Michelsen with a score of 6-0, 7-6, 6-3, marking his inaugural entry into the quarter-finals at the Australian Open.
Having competed on the grandest stages in tennis, De Minaur now shares his favorite ATP venue.
Alex de Minaur prefers Rod Laver Arena over Wimbledon’s Centre Court
During an interview at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Nimes, France, De Minaur was asked to choose between renowned tennis arenas.
- Court Philippe Chatrier (French Open) or Brisbane Centre Court (Brisbane International)
“Philippe Chatrier or Brisbane?” De Minaur pondered. “Wow, Philippe Chatrier is more expansive, but Brisbane is home, so I’ll choose Brisbane.”
- Brisbane Centre Court (Brisbane International) or Wimbledon Centre Court (Wimbledon)
“While I have a fondness for Brisbane, I believe Wimbledon Centre Court holds a unique charm,” he remarked.

- Wimbledon Centre Court (Wimbledon) or Rod Laver Arena (Australian Open)
“Wow, can I say both?” he replied. “If I must choose, I’ll stick to Rod Laver.”
- Rod Laver Arena (Australian Open) or Arthur Ashe Stadium (US Open)
“Rod Laver,” stated De Minaur confidently.

Alex de Minaur’s quest for a Grand Slam semi-final
The 26-year-old athlete has now proven himself in Grand Slam tournaments, securing five quarter-final entries.

Nevertheless, De Minaur is yet to reach a Major semi-final and has notably lost all of his quarter-final matchsets without winning a set.

Last year at Roland Garros, he nearly reached that goal, coming very close against Germany’s Alexander Zverev in all three sets.
He nearly secured a set during the quarter-finals, losing the second set in a tiebreaker at 6-7 [5-7].
As the 2025 French Open approaches, De Minaur hopes to break through and claim his first semi-final appearance in a Grand Slam.
