Announcement of Coaching Staff for Texas Men’s Basketball
On Thursday, Texas Head Men’s Basketball Coach Sean Miller revealed his coaching team, which includes five assistant coaches, a General Manager, a Head Strength Coach, and a Chief of Staff. The five full-time assistants bring a collective 78 years of coaching experience, having participated in 31 NCAA Tournaments and mentoring 77 players who have played in the NBA.
Assistant Coach: Kenya Hunter
Kenya Hunter, who has 27 years of experience as a Division I coach and three years alongside Sean Miller at Xavier, will join the staff as an assistant coach. Throughout his career, Hunter has guided 13 teams to the NCAA Tournament and worked with 20 players who made it to the NBA. His recent tenure includes five seasons (2020-25) at Indiana under Mike Woodson as Associate Head Coach, and prior positions at UConn, Nebraska, Georgetown, Xavier, and Duquesne.
Assistant Coach: Ulric Maligi
Ulric Maligi is returning for a second period as an assistant coach at The University of Texas. With 18 years of college coaching experience and a strong recruiting background in Texas, he has assisted six teams to NCAA Tournament appearances and helped five teams win conference titles, working with 17 NBA players. Most recently, Maligi was Associate Head Coach at Kansas State, contributing to their NCAA Elite Eight run in 2023.
Assistant Coach: Adam Cohen
Adam Cohen, known for his successful recruiting and player development, will also serve as an assistant coach. With 17 years in collegiate coaching, he has helped five teams from four conferences reach the NCAA Tournament and developed 13 NBA players. Cohen’s last three seasons were spent at Xavier as Associate Head Coach, and he has held roles at Stanford, Vanderbilt, Harvard, and Rice.
Assistant Coach: David Miller
David Miller joins as an assistant coach with 12 years of collegiate coaching experience, having worked closely with Sean Miller for the last seven years. He has helped four teams reach the NCAA Tournament and developed 21 NBA players. Miller’s recent experience includes being an assistant coach at Xavier and San Jose State, along with prior roles at Arizona and UC Santa Barbara.
Assistant Coach: Ryan Anderson
Ryan Anderson, a former Arizona player, will take on the role of assistant coach. After three seasons on Miller’s staff at Xavier, Anderson has seen three of his teams advance to the NCAA Tournament and achieve two Sweet 16 appearances. His coaching career began as a graduate manager at Arizona, having played professionally in various leagues after a successful college basketball career.
Support Staff and Strength Coach
Chris Ogden, a former player and assistant coach at Texas, remains as the General Manager. He has 22 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 16 seasons at Texas. Andy Kettler will be the Head Strength Coach, with 19 years in collegiate basketball coaching and having assisted 13 teams to NCAA appearances. As Chief of Staff for Men’s Basketball, Ryan Reynolds brings 18 years of experience, including a lengthy partnership with Sean Miller, which has yielded impressive results and numerous NCAA Tournament appearances.
