Fabio Quartararo’s Journey in MotoGP
In 2021, Fabio Quartararo clinched his inaugural MotoGP world title with Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP. In the following 2022 season, he secured second place overall, achieving three victories and eight podium finishes.
Since then, his performance has been inconsistent. While MotoGP is a team-oriented sport, it ultimately falls on the riders to leverage the team’s expertise and resources during each race. The results can vary significantly from one event to another.
Last year proved especially challenging for Quartararo, marking the first season where he didn’t achieve a single podium finish, resulting in a frustrating 13th position in the championship standings.
Changes are occurring within the Yamaha team, including the hiring of technical director Max Bartolini. Although the initial three race weekends of 2025 have presented hurdles, the Yamaha bike demonstrated its competitiveness at both Qatar and Jerez, particularly with Quartararo leading the charge.
In Qatar, he qualified in third place and finished fifth in the sprint race, following closely behind Gresini rookie Fermín Aldeguer. During the main race at Lusail International Circuit, he secured seventh place. His performance improved notably at Jerez, where he claimed second place, just behind first-time winner Álex Márquez, successfully defending against two-time champion Pecco Bagnaia, who took third.
“I’m feeling over the moon, to be honest,” Quartararo expressed following the race, highlighting the significance of his podium finish and the emotional support from his team, family, and friends. He recognized the importance of leading for 11 laps and expressed cautious optimism for the remainder of the season, emphasizing the need for steady progress moving forward.
Looking ahead, Quartararo is eager for his next race at Le Mans, his home track, hoping to finally clinch a victory there. With positive momentum after two promising weekends, there’s growing anticipation surrounding his potential resurgence. “I’m super happy to make this podium just before Le Mans,” he added, excited about competing in front of his home fans.
