During the Apple Silicon period, MacBooks are more budget-friendly than ever, with new models available from $649. However, impending tariffs on China could mean these deals might soon disappear. If you’re considering buying a new MacBook, now is an excellent time to act.
M1 MacBook Air
Apple has released four iterations of the MacBook Air since embracing Apple Silicon: M1, M2, M3, and M4. The M1 MacBook Air retains a well-known wedge shape reminiscent of Intel models, a design that many users still appreciate.
Even though the M1 MacBook Air is four years old, it remains a strong contender due to its impressive performance from the M1 chip, a brilliant retina display (though it has thicker bezels than newer models), an excellent keyboard, and up to 18 hours of battery life without excessive noise when used in public. As the oldest option, it’s also the most affordable MacBook Air. However, finding new models with over 256GB of storage may prove challenging.

M3 MacBook Air
The revamped MacBook Air, introduced in 2022, features a sleeker design with a larger display and thinner bezels. It also marks the return of MagSafe and comes in new colors like Starlight and Midnight, although Gold was retired. This new design initially debuted with the M2 chip and has continued with newer iterations.
Currently, the M2 chip models are largely unavailable, pushing deals toward M3 chip models, which still provide excellent performance without needing the latest technology. Presently, you can save up to $300, with configurations featuring 512GB storage available.

M4 MacBook Air
In March, Apple revealed the updated MacBook Air with M4 chip, which retains many features from its predecessor while introducing a Center Stage webcam and a new Sky Blue color replacing Space Gray. Currently, a $150 discount is available across the board for these new models.
