SPOILER ALERT: This section discusses the Season 13, Episode 13 of “The Masked Singer,” titled “Lucky Season 13 Finale,” which aired on May 7 on Fox.
Not long ago, country artist Gretchen Wilson faced significant challenges following a severe leg injury. “I spent around eight months in a wheelchair,” she shared. “I had just recovered from a walking boot when I decided to join the show.”
She was speaking about “The Masked Singer,” and in Wednesday’s Season 13 finale, Wilson emerged victorious as Pearl. “This was a great opportunity for me to prove that I still have what it takes,” she explained. “It made me think about whether I should plan for the next decade in my career or consider retirement.”
Her efforts paid off. Wilson took home the title as the season’s final celebrity to be unmasked on “The Masked Singer.” The finale also revealed the other three finalists: singer/songwriter Andy Grammer as Boogie Woogie, actress Meg Donnelly as Coral, and singer Brian Kelley as Mad Scientist Monster.
Pearl was unmasked by Robin Thicke, who guessed it was Gretchen Wilson. Ken Jeong suggested Ann Wilson, while Rita Ora picked Natalie Maines from the Chicks, and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg guessed Trisha Yearwood.
Wilson shared that she had been invited to join “Masked Singer” on multiple occasions but had been uncertain. “I wondered if I was too old for this and what my chances were,” she remarked. However, she felt this opportunity was perfect for her at this stage in life. “I wanted to challenge myself. I usually avoid stepping too far outside my comfort zone, but once I got into it, I realized the effort involved, and I was in it to win.”
The “Lucky Season 13 Finale” showcased the final contenders: Group A’s Coral, Group B’s Pearl and Boogie Woogie, and Group C’s Mad Scientist Monster. The episode began with Rita Ora performing “Pink Pony Club,” accompanied by the four finalists. The finishing order saw Mad Scientist Monster eliminated first, followed by Coral, leaving Pearl and Boogie Woogie to face off, with Pearl ultimately winning the Golden Mask trophy.
