Season 3 Update for The First Descendant Announced
Nexon and Nexon Games have revealed the Season 3 update for their free-to-play cooperative looter shooter, The First Descendant. This update introduces a new battlefield, the Hover Bike, a Colossus Field Raid, the “Lounge” feature, a new playable character, and more, set to launch this summer.
Collaboration with NieR: Automata
A cosmetic collaboration with NieR: Automata by Square Enix was also announced. Producer Beomjun Lee mentioned at a PAX East 2025 panel that the focus would primarily be on decorative elements due to ongoing content investment for Season 3 rather than substantial additions from the collaboration. The collaboration will include outfits for characters A2 and 2B, along with a modified version of 2B.
New Battlefield: Axion Plains
The update unveils a massive new battlefield named Axion Plains, once a thriving location, now ravaged by a Void Storm and teeming with threats from both artificial beings and mutated creatures, elevating the danger level for players.
Introducing the Hover Bike
Players can experience high-speed travel across Axion Plains with the new Hover Bike system. A standard Hover Bike will be available to players who log in during Season 3, with enhanced versions obtainable through exploration. Each Hover Bike can be upgraded for improved agility and combat capabilities.
Colossus Field Raid
Season 3 introduces eight-player raid content with the debut of the formidable “Wall Crasher.” Players will engage in exhilarating combat on their Hover Bikes, facing the massive colossus while traversing the expansive battlefield.
New Character and Gameplay Features
A former NPC, Nell, will be added as a new playable character, equipped with unique abilities such as telekinesis. The update also includes the addition of swords as a new weapon type, complemented by new gameplay mechanics and a diverse range of attacks. Furthermore, the Epic crossover with NieR: Automata will feature new content, with additional announcements planned for the upcoming weeks.
Additional Information
The update will also include the launch of the “Gilded Death Blossom” skin on May 22 and the announcement of the “TFD Fest” in July, celebrating the first anniversary with events and contests. The First Descendant is currently available on various platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
