After a schedule change due to weather conditions, Ben Coley revises his round three preview with a three-ball double at 9/2.
Due to a weather delay, the tournament has shifted from two-ball to three-ball pairings. Previous two-ball selections, posted earlier today, can be found lower on this page. While most bookmakers will honor these selections, Sky Bet will void them per their rules. As we’ve recommended bets with bet365, we will settle them accordingly, whether they win or lose.

Heavy rainfall has led the PGA to replace two-ball pairings with three-ball setups for the third round of this major championship, which has been less exciting than anticipated.
This morning, I expressed my inclination to bet against Luke Donald, except when matched against Beau Hossler. Now, we have the dependable COREY CONNERS competing against them both.
Conners has demonstrated his exceptional skills from tee-to-green, and his long-game statistics at Quail Hollow are outstanding. He thrives on this course and is likely to perform well.
Although Donald performed slightly better than expected yesterday, he still lost his three-ball, and the additional rain won’t benefit one of the weakest drivers in the tournament, placing him at 153rd out of 155 after the first two rounds.
Hossler is struggling as well, ranking 128th in strokes-gained ball-striking and 152nd in driving accuracy. Conners ranks third and second in those categories, requiring either Hossler or Donald to rely on Conners making substantial mistakes to win.
Harris English and Denny McCarthy were earlier selections, but English will now compete against the strong-hitting Stephan Jaeger, while McCarthy faces the impressive Ryan Gerard, backed by local fans, prompting me to look elsewhere.
Conversely, a crucial part of my recommendation for BUD CAULEY was that David Puig, who has struggled with his approach game due to a nagging injury, would be in his group. However, Michael Kim is also hurt and is now part of Cauley’s pairing, making this a favorable matchup for Cauley, who has shown solid form this spring.
PGA Championship Round Three Betting Tips
2pts Cauley and English to win their two-balls at 3/1 (bet365)
2pts McCarthy and Scheffler to win their two-balls at 7/4 (General)
1pt Cauley, English, McCarthy and Scheffler at 10/1 (bet365)
- Note: Two-ball bets may be void due to the weather delay; players will now tee off in three-balls. Check individual operator rules. Bets with bet365, Paddy Power, and Coral will stand, while Sky Bet will void them.
The PGA Championship has been somewhat strange and unremarkable so far, with an interesting note emerging as we head into the weekend: neither of the top two betting players is in the top four of the leaderboard.
Scottie Scheffler seems poised to be the frontrunner as he has ascended to a tie for fifth, trailing Jhonattan Vegas. Many bettors feel Scheffler’s main threats lie behind him rather than ahead. Bryson DeChambeau, two spots behind Scheffler, holds a single-digit price tag.
Throughout the week, I’ve found DeChambeau’s odds to be surprisingly low. My preference would certainly go to Scheffler, who stands as one of only three viable bets at this stage, alongside Matthew Fitzpatrick and Si Woo Kim.
Fitzpatrick is a major champion who recently outperformed Scheffler in a US Open, while Kim boasts significant experience against top American players on this course, showcasing a toughness I admire.
For now, the focus remains on Vegas. His double-bogey at the 18th hole yesterday didn’t cost him the lead, but with Kim’s solid performance, Vegas’s lead has narrowed to two. His recent performances have shown promise but also revealed vulnerabilities.
