In a historic victory, Northwestern claimed the 2025 NCAA women’s golf championship by defeating Stanford at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa located in Carlsbad, California. This marked the Wildcats’ first championship title. The individual title for that year was won by Maria Jose Marin from Arkansas.

The selection committee chose 72 teams, including automatic qualifiers, along with 36 individuals not part of these teams, to compete at six regional sites. Each regional site consisted of 12 teams and six individuals. From each region, five teams and the top individual not part of an advancing team moved forward to the finals.
