Apple has a strong aversion to leaks, as shown by its legal action against Jon Prosser of FPT. The company accuses him of accessing a developmental iPhone 17 model owned by an Apple employee. While Apple’s discontent is clear, it seems the tech giant may want to enter the “Apple Leaks” business itself, aiming to eliminate competition like Prosser. Ironically, Apple recently revealed details about several upcoming products through an accidental leak.
Apple’s Accidental Product Leak
A recent report indicated that Apple mistakenly included code in its software that disclosed information about several unannounced products. One notable device is a new HomePod mini, codenamed B525, which follows the existing HomePod mini with the B520 codename. Notably, this updated model will feature the same T8310 microarchitecture as the Apple Watch.
Both the upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 and Series 10 will also use the T8310 architecture. This architecture will be adapted for the S11 chip in the Apple Watch Series 11, expected to launch next month. Therefore, the new HomePod mini will transition from the S5-class chip currently utilized in the older model to a more advanced chip with a dual-core CPU and a Neural Engine, expected to launch between now and late 2025.
Among the leaked products, a new Apple TV is set to showcase the A17 Pro application processor, currently used in the iPhone 15 Pro. The new chipset represents a significant upgrade from the A15 Bionic in the current Apple TV, promising better performance, including support for console-quality gaming. This device may be unveiled as early as next month.
Additionally, a new iPad mini (J510/J511) has also been mentioned in the leaks. It is expected to use the upcoming A19 Pro, which will power the next iPhone 17 Pro Max. The last iPad mini was released last October with the A17 Pro. Apple is also rumored to be developing an OLED display version for 2026/2027, which may be connected to the recent leaks.
New Devices and Chip Developments
The A19 Pro is anticipated to feature more GPU cores than the A19 SoC, with some models potentially having one less core due to production variances. Furthermore, an entry-level iPad (J581/J582) was leaked, which will upgrade from the A16 chip to the new A18. This model, expected next spring, will support Apple Intelligence and include a 16-core Neural Engine while maintaining the same design.
Moreover, leaks include the upcoming Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, and Watch SE 3, which will utilize the S11 System in Package (SiP) chip. This new chip will feature performance cores, a 64-bit dual-core CPU, and a 4-core Neural Engine. Additionally, other leaked products include:
- Vision Pro 2, powered by the M5 chip, is anticipated to be released in late 2025.
- Apple Studio Display 2 may feature a mini-LED backlight and could launch early next year.
