The Game Awards continues to grow every year.
Since its inception in 2014, which garnered 1.9 million livestreams, the annual celebration of the video-game industry has proliferated dramatically. The 2025 Game Awards, held on December 11, set new records with approximately 171 million global livestreams, showing an 11% increase from the 154 million streams in 2024.

The viewership counts only include the full broadcast and do not factor in trailers or clips. Additionally, the viewership via Amazon’s Prime Video, the first streaming service to air the Game Awards, is excluded from this total.
The 2025 Game Awards achieved over 171 million livestreams across various digital platforms, such as YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok Live. The event even saw a 9% increase in peak concurrent viewers on Twitch and YouTube, reaching a combined peak of 4.4 million viewers from Western platforms.
Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, this year’s top honor for Game of the Year was awarded to Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive’s “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33,” which also secured multiple other awards, including for best direction and narrative.
The event featured notable live performances, including one by Evanescence, as well as appearances from various celebrities in the gaming and entertainment industry, highlighting the show’s increasing significance. The Game Awards orchestra also presented a medley honoring this year’s nominees.
The Game Awards provided a preview of upcoming games and entertainment, including titles like “Resident Evil: Requiem” and “Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic.” The event continues to be produced by Geoff Keighley and Kimmie Kim, with Richard Preuss directing and LeRoy Bennett serving as the creative director.
