Choosing the top race from the thrilling 2025 Formula 1 season is not an easy task.
With a packed calendar comprising 24 races, it becomes even more challenging, but our writers have done their best. Here’s their selection for the standout F1 race of 2025.
British Grand Prix – Filip Cleeren
The British Grand Prix had it all: unpredictable weather, a mixed-up starting grid, exciting overtakes, and a controversial penalty handed to Oscar Piastri for a safety car breach. It saw a home victory for Lando Norris and a long-awaited podium for Nico Hulkenberg.
Hulkenberg’s defensive battle for third place was among several major storylines, including a clash between Haas’ Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman.
Brazilian Grand Prix – Jake Boxall-Legge
Having attended what was possibly the most thrilling race of the season, I’ll choose the Brazilian Grand Prix. The weekend was a thrilling rollercoaster ride.
Although storms were forecasted, the worst of the weather arrived overnight, leaving only light showers on race day. Rain or not, the race offered plenty of action, highlighted by Max Verstappen‘s daring drive through the pack, which was countered by Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s thrilling attempt to maintain second place.
Dutch Grand Prix – Owen Bellwood
The 2025 F1 season offered a mix of thrilling races and lackluster events. The Dutch Grand Prix stood out for its emotional moments, a debut podium, and multiple safety cars.
While overtaking was scarce due to the track’s tight layout, strategic play, retirements from Ferrari and McLaren, and an unexpected qualifying result kept viewers on their toes. The day’s events were highlighted by Lando Norris’ surprising retirement and Isack Hadjar achieving a remarkable podium finish.
British Grand Prix – Ed Hardy
After reflecting on the 2025 Formula 1 season, the British GP stands out amidst otherwise uneventful races. It was a spectacular race weekend.
Max Verstappen delivered an outstanding pole lap, narrowly beating the McLaren duo. Rain intermittently affected Sunday’s race, forcing drivers to switch between intermediate and slick tires, with survival being key. Surprisingly, it wasn’t Verstappen who excelled; Oscar Piastri took the lead early, only to face a penalty that ultimately gifted victory to his teammate. The race also featured collisions and a historic podium for Nico Hulkenberg, making the British GP the highlight of the year.
