Hitter Power Rankings Update
The dominance of New York’s sluggers continues at the top of the Hitter Power Rankings. However, a player from the Midwest has made a significant leap into the top three, while three new names with impressive performances have entered the top 10 since our last update two weeks ago.
Ranking Methodology
The Hitter Power Rankings are derived from a formula developed by MLB.com’s data team, which assesses players’ recent performances, overall season statistics, and performance over the past year. These three factors are weighted to give more weight to recent and season-long performances.
Top Performers
Here are the current rankings. (All statistics are current through Tuesday’s games.)
2. Pete Alonso, Mets (2)
Alonso’s power hitting is impressive but not unexpected for a player who has been among the elite for years. What’s particularly intriguing is his nearly 10-point drop in strikeout rate from 2024 to 2025. With strong contact quality, he’s hitting .346—almost 100 points above his career average—with an 84-point increase in expected batting average.
3. Bobby Witt Jr., Royals (4)
Witt has climbed into the top three following a 20-game hitting streak, during which he batted .356, raising his season average to .316. Although he has only hit two home runs this season, he leads the league with 12 doubles.
4. Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers (7)
Despite not homering until his eighth game back from paternity leave, Ohtani has shown solid performance. He recorded a hard-hit homer at 114.1 mph and has a slash line of .290/.421/.548, including five extra-base hits and three steals.
5. Fernando Tatis Jr., Padres (5)
Tatis is back to superstar form, hitting for an average of .330, with eight home runs and seven steals. He has lowered his strikeout rate while maintaining impressive contact quality.
